Fantastic Writing Blogs You Should Follow (Besides This One)

Hello!

I am actually writing this post in August, because in September, I will be departing on a grand adventure, and I won’t have time or energy to write a blog post while I travel.

Anyways, just wanted to make a quick update post before I go.

While I’m gone, here are some other blogs about writing that are worth checking out!

Writers in the Storm

I recently started reading this blog, and I wish I started reading it sooner!

This blog features a lot of super informative posts about all different aspects of writing. They have been featured in Writers Digest multiple times, as well as The Write Life.

I really like one of their recent posts, Anatomy of an Afterward. You can read it for yourself right here: https://writersinthestormblog.com/2023/08/book-parts-and-better-engagement-anatomy-of-an-afterword/

One Year Adventure Novel Blog

If you know me, you might know that I am a big fan of the One Year Adventure Novel curriculum.

It’s a creative writing curriculum for homeschoolers, or any teenager who wants to learn how to write a novel. It offers step by step lessons to help you brainstorm, plan, outline, and draft your first novel.

This writing curriculum taught me so much about writing and storytelling. They also have a blog, with posts written by student contributors. (Scroll down and you’ll see a recent post by yours truly!)

All of their posts are helpful and informative. One of my favorites is Creating Characters That Are Uniquely Yours, which you can read here: https://clearwaterpress.com/oneyearnovel/blog/creating-characters-that-are-uniquely-yours/

Writers Helping Writers

Writers Helping Writers is what I wish my blog looked like. Their site is full of helpful resources, blog posts, and writing guides.

Recently, they’ve been publishing a series about how to write pain. It’s a super helpful series, and this blog is starting to become one of my favorite writing blogs. Every one of their posts is helpful and inspiring!

You can read their post, Writing about Pain: Describing Minor Injuries, right here: https://writershelpingwriters.net/2023/08/writing-about-pain-describing-minor-injuries/

The Regal Writer

The Regal Writer is the portfolio blog of Regina Ludes, an editor and writing consultant. She shares some of her own writing advice, as well as her opinions on books and the creative life.

I always feel encouraged when I read her posts, because she does a great job of explaining her topic and always staying upbeat.

Of course, all of her posts are great, but I especially recommend How Writers Can Support Other Creatives. Give it a read here: https://theregalwriter.com/2023/06/21/how-writers-can-support-other-creatives/

And of course, this blog 🙂

Please follow my blog by email, if you haven’t already! I would really appreciate it, and I don’t send extra emails. You just receive an email once a month when I publish a new post, and that’s it. It helps me out, and helps save you time, by sending the posts straight to your inbox. Win-win.

There you have it– several different writing blogs that will give you great advice! Go check them out and leave a friendly comment on their post. Spread some love and positive vibes!

That’s all the time I have for now. I’ll be back with another post next month!

Ciao for now 🙂
