Hi and welcome to my About page!
My name is Lauryn Trimmer, and I love telling stories.
When I started my first blog ten years ago, I wanted to write about books. And that passion stuck with me.
Now, I’m a writer and storyteller, working with everything from nonfiction to novels to poetry.
A little bit more about me:
- My favorite TV shows are Death Note, SpyxFamily, The Sandman, and Parks and Rec.
- Books I’m currently obsessed with include A Darker Shade of Magic (by V.E. Schwab), The Hazel Wood (by Melissa Albert), and The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman.
- I’m an enneagram 6, “the loyalist.” (J.R.R. Tolkien and Mark Twain were also sixes. Pretty cool.)
- Multiple people have told me that I remind them of Darcy Lewis from Thor/WandaVision.
- I hope to work in marketing for a book publisher someday.
- I love peanut M&Ms a little too much.
Now let’s talk about writing!
I’ve been writing my whole life, but I’m not pursuing publication yet. (At least, not for my novels. I’ve had a few short stories published, but I don’t think that’s quite the same thing!)
So obviously, I don’t have a list of published books for you to check out. But I can give you a rundown of some of my past projects!
- Dystopian novel about a girl who gets sent to the future so she can’t prevent a crime. She has to find a time machine and get back home before her cousin dies.
- Magical realism novel about a girl who discovers she has destructive, uncontrollable magical powers. Then her grandma threatens to murder her unless she gets rid of her powers. And goldfish crackers are involved.
- And many other half-finished novels….
My current project is a fantasy novel about a boy who can talk with ghosts, a shapeshifter, and an anarchist who can manipulate emotions. I finished the first draft during NaNoWriMo 2021, and I’m currently in the revision process.
I write to explore. When I was a kid, I was obsessed with books like The Fairy Realm series by Emily Rodda, where people could just stumble into a magical world. Most of my stories are some form of light fantasy with magical elements.
If I’m not working on my latest project, you can find me researching random facts on the internet. You can also find me eating mac and cheese in my kitchen at 2 AM, crying over the deaths of fictional characters.
I’ve also won a few writing awards!
