As a writer, I love podcasts.
They might be podcasts about certain genres, or writing in general.
And so I figured, why not share a roundup of my favorite writing podcasts?
If you have any favorite podcasts, be sure to let me know in the comments! I’d love to check them out.
Okay, let’s jump into it.
The Creative Penn
The Creative Penn is a podcast by Joanna Penn, also known as J.F. Penn. This is one of the first podcasts I started listening to, and I’ve gleaned a bunch of amazing info from it. Most of the episodes are interview style.
Chances are, this is one of the first writing podcasts you’ve heard about. If you’re not familiar with The Creative Penn, I highly recommend checking it out on Spotify or Apple Podcasts.
Write on Cue
Write on Cue is a writing podcast hosted by two teen writers, who I met through an online writing forum. In their podcast, they talk about all kinds of writing topics, often featuring other young writers as guests.
As of now, their podcast is available on their website, http://writeoncuepodcast.com/, and on Spotify. Be sure to check it out and support their work!
The Creative Writer’s Toolbelt
Unfortunately, this podcast ended in April 2020. However, it’s still an amazing podcast to listen to.
This podcast has 161 episodes that you can listen to on Spotify or Apple Podcasts, and most of these episodes are around an hour long. It’s got a bunch of great information if you’re willing to listen to the whole episode to glean the wisdom from it.
The Playwriters Podcast
Obviously, this podcast isn’t for everyone, since it’s the first podcast on this list that deals with a very specific genre. However, it’s a great podcast to listen to, and Ken releases a new episode every 4-5 days or so.
If you’re interested in playwriting, I recommend listening to The Playwriting Podcast on Apple Podcasts.
Writing Excuses
Chances are, you’ve probably heard of this one before, but it’s so good that I figured I’d include it on this list.
The Writing Excuses tagline is, “Fifteen minutes long, because you’re in a hurry, and we’re not that smart.” There have been 15 seasons of the podcast to date, and they cover all kinds of topics related to writing and storytelling. You can check it out at their website, https://writingexcuses.com/, or on Spotify.
That’s it for today’s post, my top 5 podcasts for writers.
What do you think of these podcasts? What writing podcasts do you listen to? Let me know in the comments.
Thanks for reading, and I’ll be back with a new post next week!
